General Functions:
The Clinician delivers individualized clinical interventions to meet the unique needs of CITC participants across the continuum of care, providing mental health and substance use treatment through individual, group, and family therapy. This position directly supports CITC's mission to develop opportunities that fulfill our people's endless potential by delivering strength-based, person-centered, and trauma-informed care. Key responsibilities include direct client care, education, screening, treatment planning, crisis intervention, service coordination, and active collaboration as a member of each participant's treatment team. The role requires clinical expertise, cultural competency, and dedication to helping Alaska Native and American Indian participants achieve wellness and recovery.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Clinician I
- Provide individual, group, and family therapy that is strength-based, person-centered, and trauma-informed, in alignment with Recovery Services mission and objectives.
- Conduct behavioral and diagnostic assessments to determine appropriate level of care and inform treatment planning, discharge planning, and case management.
- Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations, HIPAA, and agency policy.
- Participate in case staffing sessions for assigned participants to ensure services align with individual needs.
- Coordinate treatment team involvement and actively promote engagement through ongoing consultation and collaboration.
- Facilitate participant referrals for additional services as medically necessary to support treatment needs and ensure continuity of care.
- Provide advocacy and conduct follow-up on referrals to ensure participant access and engagement with recommended services.
- Identify and assess risk factors, including potential for suicide, homicide, and grave disability.
- Initiate involuntary psychiatric holds when clinically indicated, in accordance with Alaska State protocols and legal requirements.
- Maintain professional boundaries while fostering open and supportive communication with participants.
- Maintain a safe and supportive environment that fosters emotional well-being and security for all participants.
- Protect participant privacy in accordance with CITC's privacy policies, procedures, and practices as required by federal and state law.
- Complete required training to enhance skills and improve quality of service delivery.
- Perform all related duties as needed and assigned.
Clinician II
- Perform all duties and responsibilities of Clinician I with an advanced level of proficiency.
- Serve as lead clinician or provide expertise on treatment-related issues to program staff.
- Mentor and support Clinician I staff in developing clinical skills and best practices.

Minimum Core Competencies:

Minimum Qualifications:
- Continued employment is contingent upon completion of satisfactory state and federal fingerprint criminal background check.
Clinician I
- Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Counseling, Substance Abuse Counseling, or Addiction Counseling.
- Alaska Chemical Dependency Counselor Certification I (CDC I), or ability to be certified within one year from hire date.
- Obtain Qualified Addiction Professional (QAP) approval within three (3) years of Provisional Provider Application approval date with State of Alaska.
- Obtain Alaska clinical licensure in designated field (e.g., LPC, LCSW, LMFT) within three (3) years of hire.
- Maintain all credentials in current and up-to-date status.
- CPR certified or ability to be certified within 30 days of hire.
Clinician II
- Meet all qualifications for Clinician I.
- Active Alaska clinical licensure in designated field (e.g., LPC, LCSW, LMFT) at time of hire.
- Alaska Chemical Dependency Counselor Certification I (CDC I) or higher.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience providing substance use treatment in both residential and outpatient settings.
- Advanced training in interventions related to substance use treatment.
- Training and/or certification in modalities designed for treatment of trauma, such as EMDR and Brainspotting.

- May require prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and consistently working on a computer with repetitive motion.
- The need to occasionally move around the office to access filing cabinets, storage cabinets, and office equipment may be necessary.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally by utilizing proper lifting techniques and working in a safe manner.
