Assists General Manager in overseeing all aspects of golf club operations, including activities and relationships between guests and associates. Ensures revenue production and solid financial performance of property. Assist key managers in self development, by managing to Troon Standards and by achieving financial success of various club entities.

Essential Duties, including but not limited to:
  • Develops, administers and achieves the annual golf revenue plan.
  • Oversees the care and maintenance of all club physical assets. May coordinate maintenance efforts with support of Facilities Manager.
  • Audits all inventories to assess control reliability. Identifies opportunities to control product costs and other expenses.
  • Prepares and monitors quarterly revenue goals and expenses as well as generating various (weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual) business volume reports and updating forecasts.
  • Monitors all financial reports/statements on a monthly basis and recommends effective corrective action in cases of any negative budget variance.
  • Monitors business volume forecast in golf department and advises changes to plans or programs, in areas of manpower, productivity, COS, operating costs and other elements.
  • Works directly with the Troon merchandise buying strategy, maintaining inventory, store cleanliness and organization. Accountable for COGS and inventory control.
  • Implements greens fee strategies for calendar year, continuously updating and maintaining tee sheet to maximize revenue.
  • Assists Marketing Manager with marketing efforts to continually promote controlled golf access to target markets.
  • Collaborates and assists key managers with developing and achieving business and operating plans.
  • Assists in interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work within their department, evaluating performance, rewarding, and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Develops preventive maintenance programs for department, including but not limited to golf cars, range equipment and cart barn. Implements daily and weekly checklists to ensure accountability.
  • Organizes compilation of all necessary data required to prepare annual golf budgets for club.
  • Monitors basic personnel policy, reviews policies relating to personnel actions and training along with professional development programs. Ensures that human resources procedures and policies are followed and that deviations are effectively managed.
  • Attends weekly F&B meetings when appropriate, as well as weekly department head and other key manager meetings.
  • Attends periodic and various City of Tempe League committee meetings.
  • Updates and oversees implementation of policies and procedures for golf including compliance with all company standards.
  • Monitors overall club(s) safe-work practices and coordinates ongoing safety education programs.

Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (BA); or four to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (Multi-course facilities may require more experience.)

Physical Demands:
Regularly stands, walks and sits. Occasionally may climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crawls, crouches, tastes or smells. Regularly uses hands to finger, feel or handle, reaches with arms and hands, talks or hears. Occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds.

Environment/Noise:
Occasionally works in outdoor weather conditions. Noise level is moderate.

Certificates/Licenses:
CMAA member, GCSSA or PGA/LPGA membership preferred

Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences:
  • Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the associates may be required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English).
  • Knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications.
