Responsible for the wet end of the Coating line. This position is also responsible for the quantity and quality of the product produced and is the number two position on the Coating line. The Coater Operator's duties include but are not limited to the following.
Primary Duties
- Ensure all production employees are performing their tasks safely according to published run schedules and their respective job descriptions.
- Insure all support equipment required for the production run is in a ready state. (Power on, valve line up performed.)
- Notifying the Machine Operator or Production Manager of changing conditions on the line or any problem encountered with a run schedule.
- Ensure the Line is set-up properly with respect to historical data prior to each run.
- Ensure the line is started up promptly and efficiently each morning and after web breaks and coating changes.
- Minimize paper and coating waste on the line.
- Ensure the product is coated free of defects, Notify the Machine Operator and troubleshoot accordingly.
- Ensure shutdown and cleanup at the end of each day is performed properly.
- Daily inspection of all belts and hoses, (reported by the unwind and rewind operators.)
- Cleanliness of equipment and plant floor.
- Daily inventory of consumables required at the coater station.
- Learn relevant local and company requirements, rules and procedures. Strictly follows rules and guidelines and always uses the right procedure for the job. Promptly reports incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions or processes. SWR employees regardless of level, position or tenure are responsible for upholding the safety standards regulations and policies.
- Must be at least 21 years of age, with a high school diploma or GED. Previous experience with web handling preferred.
- Must have analytical skills and desire to learn new equipment and applications
- Must be able to make decisions under pressure
- Must be able to use Critical-thinking skills to reach running objectives
- Previous supervisory experience not required
- This position may require the Operator to stand for an extended period of time.
