Job Type: Part-time
Salary: $15 - 20 per hour, depending on experience and including tips
Required experience: Previous barista or food industry experience a plus, however, we’ll train those that want to learn and contribute to our positive coffeehouse culture and vibe!
Job Summary
Our baristas are responsible for serving all products with friendly, individualized attention towards each customer. Service will be at both the indoor walk-up counter as well as the drive thru counter, wearing a headset and serving drive thru customers. You will also be responsible for educating customers about our menu items and offerings. Our baristas fulfill any other duties the store manager assigns and represents Caffeine station in a professional manner.
Responsibilities and Duties
Product:
- Proficiently prepares all hot, blended, and cold drinks provided by the store
- Ensures that all customers are educated on our products and services
- Maintains the highest quality, consistent product standards
- Follows all Company drink recipes and procedures
Service:
- Greets all customers with fast, friendly, personalized service and develops a rapport with customers by learning their names, favorite drinks and food items
- Verbally receives and calls back customer orders in a friendly manner
- Reports all customer complaints to manager/supervisor on duty
- Responds proactively to prevent customer service situations
- Accurately enters sales orders into point of sale system/cash register and counts back change to customers in a courteous and friendly manner
- Answers telephone in a courteous and friendly manner including giving store greeting, directions to store location, and receiving and filling customer orders
- Answers customer questions regarding coffee blends, preparation, and product freshness
- Sells and serves baked goods and miscellaneous food items to customers
- Maintains efficient, friendly service
Environment:
- Restocks shelves when necessary
- Routinely cleans the bar area and equipment, floor, windows, lobby area, restrooms, takes out trash, etc.
- Reports potential safety hazards to the manager on duty
- Reports all employee accidents to the manager on duty
- Informs the manager on duty of any operational inconsistencies

Requirements, Qualifications & Physical Demands:
- Entry level position
- Maintains positive Company morale and professional attitude
- Excellent verbal and written skills
- Well-organized and detail-oriented
- Regularly required to stand (5 hours+), walk, talk and listen
- Frequently required to use hand-to-finger motions, handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms
- Regularly required to lift and/or move items up to 30 pounds
- Regularly required to handle food and hot beverages
- Utah Food Handlers Permit required

As a Barista, you will be responsible for preparing and serving high-quality beverages, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Duties
- Prepare and serve a variety of coffee drinks, teas, and other beverages according to established recipes and standards.
- Operate the espresso machine and other café equipment efficiently while ensuring quality control.
- Provide friendly and efficient service to customers, taking orders accurately and answering questions about menu items.
- Handle cash transactions using the POS system and maintain accurate cash register operations.
- Assist with food preparation as needed, including pastries and light snacks.
- Maintain cleanliness of the café area, including tables, counters, and equipment to ensure a welcoming environment.
- Monitor inventory levels of coffee beans, supplies, and food items, communicating needs to management.
- Demonstrate excellent time management skills to ensure timely service during peak hours.
Requirements
- Previous experience in food service or the food industry is preferred but not required.
- Strong math skills for handling cash transactions accurately.
- Knowledge of coffee preparation techniques is a plus.
- Familiarity with POS systems and cash registers is beneficial.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to engage positively with customers.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively throughout shifts.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed.
