The successful Commercial Electrical Estimator at D/E/F Services Group, Ltd is effective and efficient. The Commercial Electrical Estimator is knowledgeable about all facets on the Electrical installation and repair processes across multiple designs, systems, integrations, and service standards. Essential Traits for Success:
- Prepares work to be estimated by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents. Verifies bid due date, pre-bid conference information, request for information (RFI) due dates and submission protocols, and all other bidding requirements.
- Routinely checks and has present knowledge of current manpower schedule and backlog. Works in coordination with Project Manager to verify scheduling availability for possible awarded jobs.
- Responsible for estimating, design, application support, purchasing, submittal review and job coordination.
- Accurately estimate plans & specifications to design/build Electrical systems using computer estimating systems and other related software to include recording potential change orders (PCO’s)
- Experience in obtaining and evaluating material, direct labor, manufacture equipment pricing and subcontractor quotes.
- Evaluate plans & specifications, and have the ability to identify discrepancies and have an understanding of how to address them accordingly (i.e. RFI;s, allowances, budgets, PCO’s)
- Maintain estimating logs and unit costs for all projects
- Establish and maintain vendor relationships
- Perform site surveys and attend pre-bid walkthroughs, document all findings.
- Quoted equipment & submittal tracking, if required.
- Interact with the project management teams to ensure all projects are performed on budget and according to plans and specifications, note any savings opportunities
- Ability to manage multiple bids throughout the entire bid process simultaneously
- Possess the ability to evaluate changes, and adapt quickly throughout the bid process.
- Ability to read and interpret estimated quantities and values and assist in the procurement of equipment & materials.
- Produce change order quotes for current projects, as needed.
Commercial Electrical Estimator Qualifications & Skills:
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and able to consistently follow written processes and procedures
- Excellent mathematical & data analytics skills are preferred
- Ability to read and understand blueprints
- Ability to stand, lift, maneuver weights that may exceed 50lbs.
- Strong verbal communication skills
Education, Licensing & Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree, or 10 Years of combined experience.
- 5 Years of Commercial Electrical Estimating experience.
- Active CT or RI E2 or E1 are preferred
- Current OSHA 10 Certification is preferred
- Active Driver’s License with reliable transportation.
