The Community Outreach Specialist is responsible for promoting the services of Carrier's behavioral healthcare system including inpatient programs and outpatient services to professional referral sources including but not limited to: employee assistance professionals, student assistant counselors, human resources professionals, businesses, industry, unions, physicians, psychologists and other clinicians; presenting an image which projects Carrier as a leader in the provision of treatment in addiction and mental health with priority placed on maintaining census development through active marketing efforts.
1. Generates new business leads and pursues prospective referral sources with a regional focus on all of the following service lines adolescent, older adult, adult psychiatric, addiction services, East Mountain Youth Lodge and East Mountain School.
2. Establishes liaison and makes regular visits to above-named referral sources, actively marketing Carrier's psychiatric and addiction recovery services.
3. Meets designated objectives set by the Marketing Director of outside calls made and on-site visits to organizations.
4. Educates organizations regarding Carrier Clinic's treatment philosophy, and program admission procedures.
5. Makes regular contacts with organizations who have previously referred patients to Carrier to request feedback on services and to update the referral source on changes in programming.
6. Assists the professional referral source in gaining direct access to the treating physician or counselor and acts as intermediary when there are problems or concerns relating to specific patient cases.
7. Interfaces with groups and agencies as designated by the Marketing Director addressing interested community or business groups as requested.
8. Coordinates marketing appointments and events with appropriate unit coordinators.
9. Represents Carrier at trade shows, health fairs, conferences, etc. utilizing the hospital's display and handing out appropriate literature.
10. Prepares appropriate administrative reports and records to document activities.
11. Becomes actively involved with local and state addiction and psychiatric organizations and community organizations as assigned.
12. Addresses interested community or business groups as requested.
13. Coordinates workshops for various referral sources and potential referral sources a s well as evening programs through the Community Education Series.
14. Coordinates assessments and screening services on-site or on location for corporations, schools, DYFS, probation and other organizations.
15. Other duties and/or projects as assigned.

1. Associate's Degree.
2. Knowledge of addictions and psychiatric treatment fields.
3. Minimum of 2 years clinical experience.
4. Some marketing/sales experience.
5. Interacts well with patients, visitors and hospital staff.
6. Demonstrates a courteous, cooperative, pleasant and positive attitude.
7. Maintains strict standards of confidentiality.
8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
9. Proficient computer skills that may include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
1. Bachelor's degree in Psychology or Social Work.
