Concrete Paving Foreman
Southwest Concrete Paving is an established concrete paving company specializing in military airfield construction across the western United States. The Concrete Paving Foreman will plan, coordinate and supervise concrete paving field operations. This position will be a travelling position where qualified applicants will be required to integrate and travel with a paving crew to assist in all assigned functions. The individual must be able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced work environment. Some night and weekend work will be required.
PRIMARY DUTIES
- Supervise staff including establishing and communicating performance expectations, providing positive and constructive feedback, determining training and development needs and conducting on-the-job training
- Supervise and direct the day-to-day activities of the concrete paving crew
- Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with project specifications, plans, and safety standards
- Read and interpret plans, layout, and project documents
- Coordinate with batch plant, saw cutting, trucking, survey, and QC personnel as well as subcontractors and other trades (electrical, underground utilities, etc.) to maintain project schedule
- Oversee placement, finishing, and curing of concrete pavement including slipform and hand form paving
- Coordinate machine control aspects of maintaining alignment and grade before and during paving shift
- Daily allocation of crew resources to efficiently complete critical path workload, scheduled slip form paving activities, and paving prep work
- Monitor and ensure proper use of equipment, materials, and tools.
- Conduct daily safety meetings and enforce company safety policies and procedures
- Ensure quality control by inspecting finished work and making necessary corrections
- Maintain accurate daily reports including timecards, production logs, and material usage
- Troubleshoot and resolve field issues as they arise
- Train and mentor crew members on best practices and proper techniques
REQUIREMENTS
- Must be willing to travel up to 100%
- Must be available to work all shifts including days, nights, and/or weekends
- Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, and methods), negotiations, engineering, cost control schedules and safety required.
- Excellent communication, organizational and supervisory skills
- Fluent in English and Spanish (preferred)
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 3 to 5 years with supervising concrete paving or 5 to 8 years paving foreman experience and/or technical training or related experience.
