Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Construction Surveying Technology Specialist to support our field operations. This role is critical in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our construction projects through the use of advanced surveying tools and techniques. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with robotic total stations, GPS systems, and an interest in CAD and 3D modeling.
Key Responsibilities:
- Survey Equipment Management: Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot survey instruments including robotic total stations, GPS receivers, and data collectors.
- Machine Control Setup: Configure and deploy robotic total stations for automatic machine control systems on construction equipment.
- Field Surveying: Perform layout and staking of roadway alignments, utilities, and other construction features.
- Grade Verification: Use GPS and total station equipment to verify and document roadway grades and elevations.
- Data Collection & Documentation: Accurately record field data and ensure it is properly transferred to project teams.
- CAD & 3D Modeling (Optional/As Needed): Assist with creating and editing 2D and 3D models of construction projects using CAD software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D or Trimble Business Center.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related field - a plus but not required.
- 2+ years of experience in construction surveying or a similar role.
- Proficiency with robotic total stations (e.g., Trimble, Leica) and GPS systems.
- Familiarity with CAD software and 3D modeling tools is a plus.
- Strong understanding of construction plans, specifications, and field procedures.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in outdoor environments and adapt to changing site conditions.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with machine control systems and data preparation.
- Knowledge of survey data processing and file formats (e.g., .dxf, .xml, .csv).
