Position Summary
The Controller will be a highly organized, detail-oriented and accountability-drive individual reporting directly to the CAO. This role will play a critical part in ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls and elevating the overall quality and reliability of the accounting team’s work. This includes but is not limited to A/R, A/P, G/L and managing the monthly close.
Key Accountabilities:
- Ensure quality control of the accounting team’s work, maintaining consistency, accuracy and completeness
- Ensure adherence to established accounting workflows, processes and internal controls
- Lead timely and accurate monthly consolidated close (US and Canadian entities)
- Provide guidance on accounting issues, non-standard transactions, and special situations
- Manage Corporate Accounting Supervisor and Staff Accountant
Responsibilities:
- Develop a thorough understanding of accounting workflows and proactively refine them for efficiency and accuracy
- Review and ensure consistent processing of A/P and A/R transactions
- Review and approve G/L entries
- Monitor team output and adjust priorities as necessary to meet deadlines and standards
- Coach and train team members to improve accuracy, consistency and understanding of their work
- Recommend updates to policies and workflow to Chief Accounting Officer
- Review internal financial controls and suggest improvements
- Monitor the quality and timeliness of accounting team responses to internal stakeholders
- Ensure that all accounting records and documentation are properly saved in accordance with company policy
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Experience with QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Time
- Experience with the following tools is a plus but not required: Monday.com, Tipalti, Syft
Skills and Behaviors:
- Proficient in QuickBooks Online
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint and Excel)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to give constructive feedback
- Excellent attention to detail; able to manage multiple assignments and competing priorities
- Strong problem-solving skills and a desire to improve processes
- Highly organized with a passion for learning and professional growth
- Comfortable working remotely during East Coast business hours
- Prior people management experience is required; we’re looking for someone with the right mindset, attention to detail, and drive to lead
- Previous experience working with offshore teams is desirable, but not required

Compensation:
The pay for this position is commensurate with experience, skills, education, certifications, and training. The salary range (annually) for this position is $110,000-$120,000.
