Immediate job opening for Controls Technician - Birmingham, AL
1. Key Responsibilities
1.1. Collaboration
1.1.1. Report directly to the Controls Manager regarding most daily tasks.
1.1.2. Take indirect supervision and tasks from others on the ASI management and engineering teams as needed for project specific work.
1.1.3. Coordinate with sales, project, controls, and mechanical teams to build and integrate automated systems.
1.1.4. Interface directly with customers to address and solve their needs and provide high quality services.
1.2. Fabrication, Assembly, and Installation
1.2.1. Utilize hand tools as necessary to assembly equipment. Drills, taps, wrenches, screwdrivers, and other manual and powered hand tools. It is expected that you will have your own set of hand tools to be used for work.
1.2.2. Experience operating manual machining equipment, such as mills and lathes, is a plus as well as experience using measurement tools and more manual hand tools for custom fabrication of parts when necessary.
1.2.3. Hands on integration, modification, and repair of robotic, mechanical, and controls equipment to meet customer specifications.
1.2.4. Build electrical control panels and automated electromechanical equipment by utilizing prints, documentation, and engineer direction.
1.2.5. Assist in maintaining a clean and organized work environment throughout the fabrication area as well as the entire ship. This includes general housekeeping duties such as trash removal, floor sweeping, and part/material organizing.
1.3. Controls Programming and Support
1.3.1. Modify and develop PLC, HMI, VFD, Servo, and other controls programs and parameters both in house and in the field.
1.3.2. Troubleshoot, diagnose, modify, and repair electromechanical control systems.
1.3.3. Keep accurate and up to date records on all aspects of work being completed, utilizing existing documentation and processes.
1.3.4. Perform quality control inspections on electrical controls systems.
2. Requirements
2.1. Experience
2.1.1. Experience with maintenance or another electromechanical technician role is preferred.
2.1.2. Experience with PLC, HMI, VFD, robot, servo, or other controls programming is preferred.
2.1.3. Experience reading and understanding electrical print sets is preferred.
2.2. Skills
2.2.1. Self-motivated and organized
2.2.2. Ability to bend and lift 50 plus pounds.
2.2.3. Must be able to travel to work at customer facilities as necessary.
2.2.4. Able to pass a background check as well as pre-employment and random drug screenings.
2.2.5. Able to multitask and work with minimal supervision.
2.2.6. Possess and maintain a clean driving record and valid US driver’s license.
2.2.7. Strong communication and computer skills.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
