About the role
We are looking for an associate attorney to join our high growth, NASDAQ-listed company in the Bitcoin mining and AI/HPC industry. This position will report directly to the VP Associate General Counsel – M&A and Corporate Finance.
This team member will work collaboratively with other members of the legal department to support Riot’s operations and advance strategic initiatives through various types of transactions.
Essential Functions
- Evaluate, negotiate, and advise on corporate transactions, including M&A, financing, capital markets, and real estate transactions.
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts.
- Monitor compliance with contracts; manage post-closing obligations and support integration.
- Assist in development of internal contracting framework, including preparing form agreements and establishing legal processes.
- Develop cross-functional relationships to provide organization-wide support for risk mitigation and legal compliance.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Solid judgment and ability to identify critical issues.
- Ability to coordinate with and manage third party partners, including external counsel.
- Willingness to take ownership of projects and follow through with commitments in a timely manner.
- Collaborative approach with a team player attitude.
Education and Experience
- J.D. with an active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- 3-5 years of legal experience at a law firm or in-house legal department.
- Strong experience with M&A, financing, capital markets, and/or complex commercial transactions.

The pay range for this role is:
160,000 - 200,000 USD per year (Remote)
