- The basic function of the Crane Operator / Material Handler is to lift, move, and position loads, such as machinery, equipment, products, and solid or bulk materials. Also responsible for safely loading and unloading trucks/trailers and ensuring weights.
- STARTING PAY WILL BE BASED ON EXPERIENCE
Requirements
- Preferred: High School diploma or GED
- Preferred: (2) years experience as a crane operator, preferably in recycling environment
- Must have corrected vision that meets same requirements as a valid driver's license
- Have coordination between eyes, hands, and feet
Principle Duties
- Operate material handler in a manner always ensuring safety for themselves, the customers and their co-workers. Adhere to all company safety policies.
- Lift, move, and position loads, such as machinery, equipment, products, and solid bulk material as needed.
- Load and unload trucks/trailers in a timely manner
- Service and maintain material handler daily using company resources.
- Upgrade non-ferrous out of shred/white goods pile.
- Ensure flow of traffic is handled as safely and efficiently as possible
- Uses any free time efficiently by working on ways to make the scrap metal recycling process more efficient and effective.
- Ensures the working areas are kept in a neat, orderly, clean, and hazard free condition
- Performs other duties and tasks as may be assigned by the Location Manager

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
