Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Crankshaft Grinder to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining crankshaft grinding machines to produce precision-ground parts that meet exact specifications. This is a critical role in our engine remanufacturing and machining operations.
Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate crankshaft grinding machines to grind and polish main and rod journals.
- Read and interpret blueprints, job orders, and engineering drawings.
- Measure finished parts using micrometers, calipers, and gauges to ensure accuracy and tolerances.
- Select appropriate grinding wheels and adjust machine settings based on material and specs.
- Inspect crankshafts for cracks, damage, or irregularities before and after grinding.
- Perform maintenance on grinding machines and replace worn parts as necessary.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with safety regulations.
- Work closely with machinists, inspectors, and quality control to ensure finished products meet quality standards.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years of experience operating a crankshaft grinding machine, cylindrical or OD grinder (e.g., Berco, Storm Vulcan, AMC, etc.).
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Ability to read precision measuring instruments and interpret technical drawings.
- Knowledge of engine components and reconditioning processes is a plus.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with automotive, diesel, or industrial engine crankshafts.
- Familiarity with surface finish and journal tolerance specifications.
- Understanding of machine shop safety protocols and practices.
