The Los Angeles County Office of Education is seeking skilled and experienced individuals with strong hands-on experience and proven leadership abilities to apply for the role of Custodial Operations Supervisor.
The Custodial Operations Supervisor plans, coordinates, and supervises the activities of custodial services including the establishment of cleaning standard procedures, cleaning products, supplies, and equipment; assigns and monitors site cleaning schedules; coordinates moving, pest control, and asbestos services.
The Well Qualified Candidate Will Possess the Following
Knowledge:
- Cleaning and sanitation methods used in custodial work
- Custodial cleaning materials such as soap, detergent, solvents, and waxes
- Safety practices as applied to custodial work
- Custodial equipment and its care and maintenance
- Principles of progressive discipline
- Applicable provisions of collective bargaining agreements
- Federal, State and local laws, and codes applicable to custodial operations and maintenance
- Basic concepts of contract administration and purchasing Fundamental concepts of employment laws, codes, and regulations, including EEO, FLSA, FMLA, and Cal/OSHA and applicable provisions of collective bargaining agreements
- Professional & Technical Expertise – Applying technical subject matter to the job
- Safety Focus – Showing vigilance and care in identifying and addressing health risk and safety hazards
- Using Technology – Working with electronic hardware and software applications
- Action & Results Focus – Initiating tasks and focusing on accomplishments
- Informing – Proactively obtaining and sharing information
- Customer Focus – Attending to the needs and expectation of customers
- Managing Performance – Ensuring superior individual and group performance
- Project Management – Planning and tracking projects to ensure they are on-time, on-budget, and achieve their objectives Cultural Proficiency – Modeling communications and interactions that respect and include all individuals and their languages, abilities, religions and cultures
Experience: Three years of experience performing custodial work in an office setting, including two years of experience in a lead or supervisory capacity with responsibility for the work of custodial staff.
Additional Requirements: A valid California driver's license and the availability of private transportation or the ability to provide transportation between job sites is required. Incumbents are required to work flexible work schedules as well as be on-call for emergencies.
To ensure the health and safety of its staff, LACOE may require employees to provide evidence of full vaccination against COVID-19.
This position does not offer any remote work.
Selection Process Candidates who meet the minimum requirements above will be invited to participate in an examination that may consist of a written multiple-choice examination and a technical interview.

Candidates who pass all exam parts are ranked according to overall exam score and placed on an eligibility (hiring) list. Vacant positions are filled from the top three ranks.
