Overview:
Clarksdale Collegiate is seeking a reliable, hardworking, and service-oriented Custodian to join our dedicated operations team. The ideal candidate takes pride in creating a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for scholars, staff, and visitors. Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all areas including restrooms, classrooms, hallways, offices, and outdoor grounds.
• Perform daily cleaning tasks such as mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, trash removal, and laundry duties.
• Operate and maintain cleaning equipment (e.g., auto scrubber, floor buffer, vacuum).
• Handle light and minor maintenance duties, including but not limited to:
• Repairing or unclogging sinks and toilets
• Minor plumbing fixes (tightening fittings, stopping leaks)
• Replacing or tightening door knobs and hinges
• Repairing or reattaching loose shelving or furniture hardware
• Patching small wall holes or scuffs
• Replacing ceiling tiles
• Replacing lightbulbs and air filters
• Basic touch-up painting
• Assembling furniture or moving classroom fixtures when needed
• Prepare the building for daily operations by unlocking doors, adjusting HVAC systems, and completing safety checks.
• Respond to staff maintenance requests with urgency and professionalism.
• Support cleanup and setup for school events, emergencies, and special projects.
• Address and clean up after student accidents (e.g., blood, vomit, urine) following safety procedures.
• Follow proper storage and usage of cleaning supplies and chemicals.
• Complete other duties as assigned to support school operations.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• At least 2 years of custodial and/or general maintenance experience.
• Prior experience in a school setting (preferred).
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks, including bending, squatting, climbing, and extended standing.
• Willingness to work in varying conditions (e.g., outdoors, with cleaning chemicals).
• Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and reliability.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Must be able to pass a background check and fingerprint screening as required by the State of Mississippi. Random drug testing may be performed.

Pay: $21,000.00 - $25,000.00 per year
