The Customer Service Representative is responsible for taking customer calls, scheduling service requests, and creating and dispatching work orders. This role plays a key part in ensuring customers receive prompt, courteous, and accurate service. The representative also assists with walk-ins from other hauling companies and the public and performs general office tasks including data entry and email correspondence. This position is essential to maintaining the high level of customer care that Buckingham Companies is known for.
Essential Job Functions:
- Answering customer calls in a professional manner
- Comply with all company policies, especially those related to safety and environmental standards
- Review and respond to driver messages regarding routing changes, blocks, skips, and rescheduling
- Data entry in different sources with company software
- Promote customer loyalty through excellent service
- Update customer information in database
- Maintain detailed records of customer interactions and transactions
- Identify & troubleshoot customer concern or service issues
- Resolve customer issues or complaints in a timely and professional manner
- Be able to communicate with City Officials
Skills & Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required, additional education is a plus
- 4+ years of customer service experience: waste industry experience preferred
- Proficient with computers; experience with Google Docs, Microsoft Excel, and ability to learn industry-specific software
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
- Excellent attention to detail, time management, and multitasking abilities
- Ability to establish rapport and communicate clearly with managers, customers, drivers, and the public
- Must be able to sit for extended periods and use phones and computers for most of the workday
- Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
