Daily Living Skills Specialist

Program: Children’s Long-Term Support (CLTS) Waiver Program
Position Summary:
Bridging Gapss is seeking passionate and reliable individuals to serve as Daily Living Skills Specialists for youth enrolled in the CLTS Waiver Program. This role focuses on teaching essential life skills to children and adolescents with disabilities, helping them become more independent at home and in their communities. Services are individualized, home-based, and community-based.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one support to children and adolescents in areas such as:
- Personal hygiene and grooming
- Meal preparation and healthy habits
- Cleaning and organizing personal space
- Dressing appropriately for weather and events
- Money management and budgeting basics
- Basic safety skills (kitchen, home, street)
- Time management and task completion
- Use individualized service plans to guide and track interventions
- Engage youth in community-based outings to build practical life skills
- Maintain consistent communication with families and the Bridging Gapss team
- Submit session documentation and progress notes after each visit
- Participate in regular check-ins, supervision, and ongoing training
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Experience working with children and/or youth with disabilities preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Must be reliable, punctual, and committed to the family’s progress
- Valid driver’s license, insured vehicle, and willingness to travel to client homes
- Must pass background and caregiver checks

Supervision
- This position does not supervise others.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to lift, move, or assist with mobility (up to 30 lbs).
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and playing with children.
- Travel for in-home or community-based services is required.
Work Environment
- Work takes place in family homes or community settings.
- May involve exposure to unpredictable environments or behaviors.
- Evening and weekend availability may be needed based on family needs.
