Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Data Center Technician to support our operations in Suwanee, GA on a 6-month contract. The ideal candidate will have experience with racking and stacking hardware, cabling (fiber and copper), troubleshooting server hardware, and working with major OEM vendors. This is a hands-on role that supports daily operational needs and infrastructure changes within a data center environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform racking and stacking of HP, Dell, Cisco, SuperMicro, and custom-built servers.
- Run and decommission fiber and Cat5 cabling.
- Troubleshoot and replace hardware components including hard drives, fan trays, DIMMs, and processors.
- Maintain and update inventory records in Aperture or equivalent DCIM systems.
- Install and manage cabling infrastructure (copper, fiber, and power cords).
- Maintain accurate documentation of cabling runs and deployed equipment.
- Ensure all equipment is properly labeled and adheres to Data Center Management (DCM) standards.
- Monitor and maintain security in the data center and raised floor environments.
- Coordinate with OEM vendors for maintenance, installations, and issue resolution.
- Monitor and optimize power and HVAC usage within the facility.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives in deployment and implementation procedures.
- Provide Tier I IT support as needed.
- Travel may be required on occasion to support other sites or projects.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in a data center environment or related IT infrastructure role.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise server hardware (HP, Dell, Cisco, SuperMicro).
- Proficiency in structured cabling, including both fiber and copper.
- Strong understanding of data center best practices and safety procedures.
- Familiarity with DCIM tools (Aperture preferred).
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with vendor coordination and managing service contracts.
- Knowledge of HVAC and power systems in a data center context.
- Experience with inventory and asset management systems.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $23.69 - $32.00 per hour
