Deli Clerk
Sonoma’s Best is seeking a full-time Deli Clerk to join our team. For over 100 years, this historic location has been a favorite spot for locals to find carefully curated wine, delicious deli options, and Sonoma-inspired merchandise and accessories. Sonoma’s Best is under new management and we are excited to re-establish ourselves as the must-stop specialty food destination in Sonoma.
What does a Deli Clerk do? “Deli Clerks are responsible for preparing, slicing, wrapping, weighing, pricing, and merchandising the department’s deli products. Deli products include deli meats, cheeses, salads, sandwiches, dips, gourmet and hot case items. They inform customers about our deli products and services and by recommending additional items to customers."
Job Requirements:
- Provide outstanding customer service.
- Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures.
- Ensure freshness of gourmet deli products and maintain date codes.
- Maintain clean and sanitary work areas, equipment, and tools.
- Perform general duties related to the preparation and storage of all deli products.
- Keep equipment, utensils, counters, refrigerators, and storage areas clean and orderly.
- Speak with staff members and customers using clear and professional language.
- Maintain positive culture within the deli department, and the market as a whole.
- Must be able to take direction from senior management and work as a team.
- Must be dependable and punctual.
- Must be physically able to walk without assistance on various surfaces (including stairs) for extended periods of time.
- Ability to repetitively lift objects weighing up to 30 lbs.
- Ability to work in temperatures as low as 28 degrees.
- Properly handle, prepare, transport and store products; ensuring food and human safety practices are strictly adhered to.
- Must possess excellent organizational skills and prioritize requests while managing interruptions.
- Have a positive attitude, be polite, energetic and a willing learner.
- Must be legally able to work in the United States.
You must be motivated and able to multi-task and do a variety of roles. From cutting and wrapping cheese, answering the phone, preparing customer orders, keeping the place clean and tidy, to assisting with receiving deliveries or giving a hand to the kitchen crew, there is a lot happening every day.
We are looking for teammates who are passionate about great food, enjoying the discipline of making great tasting food, and love to delight their regular guests through the work of their hands. Culinary mastery takes time, relationship building takes time. We need a commitment of 5 days a week, otherwise it can take a long time to get you fully trained. Weekend hours are necessary to grow within this position in the company.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
