LOCATION: This position is on-site, office-based in Atlanta, GA (hybrid model - 3 days remote / 2 days in office- Tuesday & Wednesday)
JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Art Director, the Designer is responsible for the design and production of a range of marketing materials. This position requires a creative eye for layout and functionality while utilizing photos, art, video and typographical knowledge. Through experience and knowledge, the Designer must be able to manage a project and produce first-class, effective marketing tools.
Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Creative & Design Responsibilities:
Develop effective print and digital materials including, but not limited to: advertising, digital content and web graphics, posters, manuals, brochures, templates, signage, event collateral and graphical coordination and support for special events.
- Conceptualize assigned creative projects from start to finish, sometimes in collaboration with other designers – taking into consideration, budget, market, and message project should reflect
- Produce in the most time- and cost-efficient way available, a computerized layout and design of assigned projects.
Present design point-of-view and work collaboratively with stakeholders to deliver effective marketing materials.
- Work with clients to identify project goals, develop creative marketing materials that achieve the stated outcome and complete deliverables on-time and on-budget.
- Effectively communicate ideas, concepts and solutions with clients, vendors and other designers
- Collaborate across projects, initiatives and deliverables by working with vendors, other designers, digital and video leads, as well as other stakeholders
- Identify and define design and layout problems, evaluate alternative solutions and make recommendations and changes.
Carry-through all projects to completion, updating key stakeholders on progress.
- Provide backup and/or support to the other graphic design positions
- Work autonomously on assignments and adhere to timelines and budget, to keep projects moving toward delivery
Lead production of projects
- Communicate the specifications of the project with the Director of Creative Projects/vendors to obtain a quote and follow through the production stage and ensure product is delivered satisfactorily.
- Oversee execution of projects, which may include appearing on-site for events and other engagements to ensure design elements and materials are executed properly.
- Provide necessary production support – i.e. supply graphics, images, logos and text as needed.
- Maintain accurate electronic folders, resources and creative files of assigned projects which may contain project brief, spec sheets, mock-ups, photography, signoffs and quotes.
- Assist with photo shoots either on BGCA property, or on approved location with photographers.
- Participates in additional projects and initiatives as assigned
Project Management Responsibilities:
- Participate in client meetings and production meetings in Creative Services and keep up to date with current and pending projects.
- Support the digital asset management system.
- Assist in the coordination of cost estimates and production files with printers, and other vendors, as directed.
- Support the Art Director in managing project workflow, the prioritizing of jobs estimates, time tracking and status updates.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED
- No direct Reports. May monitor and coordinate the work of temporary employees and student interns
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor degree and/or education/experience equivalency, relating to the fields of graphic design and project management; including advanced level of training or experience in traditional graphic arts as well as computer knowledge.
- Must have a minimum of two to five years of intensive on-the-job experience in design, production, printing techniques and project management in a corporate environment or advertising agency.
- Working knowledge of pre-press and print production using traditional and new technology, including advanced experience with layout and design, and use of photos, art, and typography to create innovative solutions for various marketing devices.
SKILLS
- Demonstrated advanced Macintosh skills with expertise in design, layout, digital image manipulation software (Adobe Creative Suite and Canva).
- Ability to apply reasoning skills to carry out detailed instructions; strong organizational skills; ability to identify design and production problems and evaluate and implement alternative solutions.
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels on assigned projects.
- Strong design and production skills with attention to detail that enables projects to be completed quickly and accurately.
- Demonstrated high standards of ethics and integrity.
ABILITIES
- Ability to independently identify and define design and layout problems, evaluate alternative solutions and make recommendations and changes.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, ideas, concepts and solutions with clients, vendors and other designers, in person or via phone and email.
- Self-starter with demonstrated ability to work autonomously on assignments and adhere to timelines and budget and keep projects moving toward completion.
- Physical requirements include: sight, hearing, sitting for six plus hours a day, walking, or by other means, traveling throughout BGCA building to meet with staff and management or deliver materials, standing, stooping; skills essential for successful communications include speaking, writing and reading comprehension. Press checks are sometimes required on a project and the Designer will at times be required to be present

- Normal Office Environment
- Travel estimated at up to 10% (can be up to 1-3 days or more in a given month - including weekends - depending upon scheduling requirements).
