JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision of the dining services supervisor and director the Diet Aide performs a variety of duties to include food preparation, tray line service, and food delivery. The Diet Aide assists in maintaining kitchen work areas clean, sanitized and orderly. This position requires multitasking and good time management skills. The Diet Aide must possess a current and valid food handler’s permit The Diet Aide will possess a genuine interest in and concern for geriatric, chronically ill and/or disabled persons.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITY
A working knowledge of the practices and procedures in cooking and food preparation techniques. A professional appearance is to be maintained at all times. Must be able to fluently communicate in or to take or give direction or guidance in the English language.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Regular attendance is considered an essential function of this position and is necessary for the efficient operation of the business.
- Thoroughly cleans equipment and work areas in accordance with company policies and procedures and applicable local, state and federal regulations.
- Assists in the preparation and serving of food for meal service as directed.
- Prepares and distributes snacks and nourishments for nursing services as requested and or directed.
- Ensures that resident tray preparation follows restrictions as prescribed menus and that the resident’ allergies, likes and dislikes are followed 100% of the time.
- Able to demonstrate strict adherence to appropriately manage time to ensure all daily required job duties and met within the scheduled work shift.
- Responsible to ensure that all safety precautions and infection control requirements and policies and procedures are followed 100% of the time during your daily work assignment.
- Inspects deliveries ensuring proper items and quantities are delivered and that temperatures are recorded and handling procedures are adhered to regarding safe food handling and sanitation procedures.
- Stores leftovers; plans for use of leftover foods in accordance with sanitation regulations.
- Ensures that the production area has been secured at the end of the shift. All equipment and lights are turned off and all doors and gates are locked.
- Practices a safety first attitude reporting any unsafe behavior or working condition in accordance with Glencroft Safety Policies and Procedures.
- Cleans and sanitizes work area and equipment as assigned.
- Assists with various duties relating to special activities and functions.
- Attends departmental staff meetings, in-services and other related meetings as required.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned.
