JOB DESCRIPTION: Dietary Aide/ Part Time 4p-7p
DEPARTMENT: Dining Services
REPORTS TO: Director of Nutrition Services
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists in the service of meals.
- Places prepared food on plates/trays in accordance with tray tickets in line with our established policies and procedures, and as may be directed by the Nutrition Services Director/Supervisor or Cook, to ensure that quality food service is provided at all times.
- Assists in cleaning and kitchen maintenance as well as setting up and taking down the dining areas.
- Prepares and delivers food and trays, washes dishes, and cleans and sanitizes the kitchen according to health standards.
- Ensure full compliance with nutritional standards, internal procedures and government regulations while preparing and serving foods and beverages to TVH residents and staff.
- Learn the protocols and procedures for The Virginia Home.
- Prepare dining rooms and tables, provide meal service to residents and maintain cleanliness and sanitation of dining and kitchen areas.
- Detail-oriented, well-groomed, act professionally and must be a team player who works well with others.
Required Skills / Abilities
- Attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions for reading recipes, dietary needs and meal orders.
- Ability to prepare food, serve meals, as well as be able to operate kitchen equipment and clean up after meals.
- Compassionate and patient when working with residents, family members and staff.
- Ability to work nights and weekends, and flexible in scheduling.
- Willing and able to work well within a team environment.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Standing for long periods of time and lift 20+ pounds.
- Read, speak and understand English, follow directions and complete tasks.
- Follow time schedules for meal preparation and serving.
- Participate in training and continuing education courses.
