A Direct Care Staff(DCS) is responsible for supervising and implementing activities for individuals with developmental disabilities. The DCS 1:1 will be responsible for working with a specific individual. This individual is a medically fragile individual who requires arm's length care at all times. The DCS will implement the individual's schedule, maintaining the individual's safety, helping the individual navigate his environment, facilitating his participating in group activities, and encouraging the individual to participate in activities. The DCS will create lessons to implement with the individual. The DCS will be responsible for implementing and tracking any special protocols for the individual under the guidance of the program nurse. The individual requires l assistance with eating, toileting, navigating their environment, etc.The DCS will take the individual out into the community utilizing a company vehicle a few days per week.
DCS's are responsible for implementing specific goals and objectives, logging data, and encouraging the development of social bonds and independent living skills.
The position is Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 4:00pm for a total of 40 hours per week. Any hire must be available those hours.
Duties include:
- Implement daily scheduled activities for client
- Record keeping and documentation in the form of progress notes, reports, etc.
- Monitoring client interaction with other people
- Toileting and personal care assistance
- Assisting client out in the community
- Display enthusiasm and motivational energy when interacting with client
- Supervising mealtimes
- Assistance navigating environment
- Assisting client to and from home
Requirements for Hire:
- Minimum 2 years experience working with adults with disabilities or Minimum 2 years experience providing personal care assistance
- PMT certification
- CPR certification
- Valid driver's license
- Clean criminal background and motor vehicle history (all employees undergo a background check prior to hire and annually)
- Minimum high school diploma/GED
- Minimum 18 years old
- Must be proficient in speaking, reading and writing in the English language
- Physical requirements: Must be able to keep up with the pace of the schedule
