Job Summary
We are looking for a compasionate and deicated caregiver for a 14-year-old male in Beaverton needs a Direct Support Professional after 4:45pm on weekdays and one mandatory weekend day for about 10-25 hours/week. Client is verbal and high-functioning, and has excellent video and sound editing skills. He can use the toilet independently, but does not clean himself well and needs help with all hygienic tasks. Caregiver will also need to help with ADLs, reading/writing skills, and community/socialization outings. The family has a cat and a dog, but no smoking in the home.
Duties
- Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
- Provide support to individuals with developmental disabilities and those experiencing dementia, ensuring their unique needs are met.
- Foster a positive environment by encouraging social interactions and participation in community activities.
- Maintain documentation of care provided, adhering to HIPAA regulations and resident rights.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and other staff to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Monitor and report any changes in residents' physical or emotional conditions to the appropriate personnel.
- Engage residents in meaningful activities that promote cognitive function and emotional well-being.
Qualifications
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in a group home setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of dementia care practices is an asset.
- Familiarity with resident rights and HIPAA regulations is essential.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients.
- Compassionate nature with a commitment to providing high-quality care.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also demonstrating initiative when needed.
- Previous experience as a nurse or in a healthcare-related field is a plus but not required.
