The Director of Ambulatory Patient Services - Oncology provides strategic and operational leadership for outpatient oncology clinical nursing services, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based and efficient care. This role oversees oncology nursing functions and contributes to strategic planning, budget oversight and implementation of clinical initiatives that align with UCHealth's standards of excellence. This leader fosters a culture of innovation, collaboration and compassion. The role embodies UCHealth's values of patients first, integrity, excellence and teamwork by advancing patient - centered care, supporting professional development, and driving continuous improvement across the north region oncology service line.

Summary:

Directs the strategic and operational activities and resources for assigned ambulatory services to ensure alignment with the mission, values, and objectives of the department and organization.

Key Responsibilities

The Director of Ambulatory Patient Services - Oncology leads system level collaboration and clinical practice development to ensure safe, high-quality oncology care across northern Colorado. This includes partnering with clinical managers to implement service line strategies, uphold evidence-based practices, and maintain appropriate staffing and competency standards. The role supports a culture of employee engagement and patient satisfaction, monitors quality and key performance indicators for continuous improvement and ensures fiscal responsibility across all clinical nursing departments.

Responsibilities:
  • Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the service line strategy, administrative, legal and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.
  • Directs and implements quality improvement initiatives, ensuring adherence to clinical standards, and promoting patient safety. Ensures compliance with relevant healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and legal requirements.
  • Plans and monitors day-to-day staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.
  • Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding. Coordinates and directs internal/external audits.


Candidate Qualifications

The successful candidate will meet the following requirements:
  • Bachelor's of Science degree in Nursing.
  • State licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider.
  • 5 years of relevant experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead system-level collaboration and implement evidence-based clinical practices.
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills to align clinical managers and frontline teams with service line strategies
  • Skilled in fostering a culture of safety, accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency in monitoring quality metrics and KPIs to identify trends and drive process and quality improvements
  • Knowledge of staffing models, competency frameworks and regulatory compliance in oncology care.
  • Financial acumen to maintain fiscally responsible services will supporting growth and innovation.
