The Director of Nursing participates as a member of the AAH management team as a Senior Leader in planning, policy formulation, and administrative decision making. The Director of Nursing responsibilities include:
- Plans, organizes, directs, and maintains the operation of the long-term care facility and oversees the management of the dietary, activities, social services and home care departments.
- Develops and maintains facility and departmental philosophy, goals, objectives, standards of practice, and quality of care.
- Participates in facility/departmental strategic planning and decision making and keep current and implement new practices as needed.
- Completes an annual capital and operating budgets for care center nursing departments and oversees direct reports financial statements.
- Ensures that nursing care policies, practices and procedures, and nursing education and training are established and consistent with nursing standards of care and regulatory requirements.
- Participates in quality initiatives and risk management by providing input and ensuring improvement in quality of care and safety for residents and staff; and strives for ways to improve overall activities and functions of the care center and the facility.
- Protect and promote residents rights and choices.
- Directs, evaluates, and delegates management of personnel ensuring optimal utilization of time and talents in providing quality care.
- Participates and conducts meetings, in-services, and discussions to promote efficient and effective delivery of services and quality of care.
- Participates in recruitment and selection of personnel including assignments, orientation and supervision. Supervise, coach/mentor, evaluate, and discipline personnel.
- Maintain standards of regulatory agencies (CMS, MDH ,OSHA, OHFC) and submit required reports.
- Be available to residents and families as a liaison and follow through in appropriate manner and to promote good public relations with residents, families, visitors, volunteers and community.
- Works collaboratively with others to accomplish goal/task and maintain interdepartmental relations to ensure quality and continuity of care.
- Maintain compliance with regulations for Skilled Nursing Facility.
Education/Experience/Credentials
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Minnesota, Bachelor’s or graduate degree in nursing or administration desirable.
- Minimum of two years of direct experience in geriatric nursing.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
