Job Purpose or Objective(s): Responsible for providing leadership and support of pre-award activities and ensures compliance with all federal, state, sponsor, and internal policies and regulations for sponsored awards. Oversee the preparation of proposals, negotiations, and the administration of awards/contracts. Be the central collaboration point for pre-award coordination, and the management of sponsored awards. The Director will also aid the Executive Director in decision-making and policy development related to administration and management of sponsored awards. You will report to the Executive Director of Finance.
Primary Tasks:
- Provide leadership to Pre-Award Grant Services through oversight of the Pre-Award manager and a team of professionals.
- Monitor the comprehensive functions of the department in support of the full life cycle of sponsored awards.
- Maintain a positive, proactive relationship with all levels of CNO leadership and funding agencies to ensure full grant compliance and process efficiency.
- Serve as a liaison to Grants Accounting, Post Award, leadership, grant approvers (SEO’s and designees), and executive levels of funding agencies when necessary.
- Provide vision and direction for current state, change management and adaptability to leadership vision for external funding as well as trends in federal funding.
- Build and develop a team of professionals for the purpose of succession planning within the organization.
- Develop, recommend, and/or implement any relevant policies and procedures related to sponsored awards.
- Coordinates the planning and development of regular workshops and training opportunities on comprehensive grants management for relevant stakeholders, as well as internal training on agency-specific grant strategies.
- Ensure requests to pursue external funding align with the current strategic plan of the organization.
- Develop and communicate appropriate metrics regarding sponsored awards that will provide leadership and relevant stakeholders the data needed to aid in decision-making.
- Utilize expert knowledge of the award life cycle, types of awards and applicable government regulations to participate in the negotiation/navigation of complex contractual and compliance issues that arise from sponsored awards and sponsored award proposals and agreements.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field or 4 years related experience.
- Ability to obtain Professional certification or advanced training in a directly related field
- Proficient MS Office Suite
- Must be motivated, self-starter and professional
- Have knowledge of federal grants process and regulations
- Experience managing employees and building teamwork
- Eight years related experience supporting the full life cycle of sponsored awards
