Milo C. Cockerham, Inc. a 3rd generation, locally owned and operated, business owning and operating 8 convenience stores, Hampton Inn, and the Pizza Inn/TCBY plus provides propane and petroleum products to residential and commercial customers is looking for an experienced results-oriented District Manager to oversee and lead its group of convenience stores and Pizza Inn/TCBY.
The successful candidate’s main objective is to lead and direct the district’s day-to-day operations, coach and develop store teams, be an integral part in developing and managing programs to increase sales, maintain relationships with vendors, help build productive customer relations, and ensure stores stay up to date with company policies and procedures.
Responsibilities Include:
- Providing leadership and direction to store managers, including assistance in recruiting, selection, and assisting with employee development and training programs.
- Training and motivating the store team to provide exceptional customer service.
- Maximizing sales through service, assortment, merchandising, and exceptional store image.
- Coordinate with, report and make recommendations to senior management on ways to improve sales and customer experience.
- Controlling expenses by educating managers on procedures for controlling operational expenses (inventory variation, payroll, cash, repair and maintenance costs).
- Product pricing and sales margins are maintained at established levels.
- Assisting in negotiating contracts with vendors.
- Collaborating with vendors and Managers to ensure promotions and new product introductions are fully implemented.
- Working with both vendors and Store Managers to ensure all sites within the area are clean, adequately stocked, organized and well-kept.
- Ensuring and enforcing adherence to company policies and procedures, and government regulations.
- Protecting employees, customers, and company assets by maintaining a safe and secure store environment by enforcing safety practices through communication and training.
- Achieving financial objectives by forecasting requirements, scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
- Ensuring consistency across stores with regards to merchandise presentation, pricing, and product assortment/availability.
- Leading by example and taking initiative.
- Being able to recognize and solve problems.
Qualifications:
- Convenience store or multi-unit management experience preferred.
- Food service and/or automotive service experience at management level preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in business or management – Will consider 3-5 years management experience in lieu of 4 year degree.
- Highly motivated and self-directed with a passion for success.
- Strong professional leadership, staffing, supervisory, and organizational skills.
- Must be customer-service oriented.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable as a company driver.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
- Intermediate level computer skills including MS Outlook, MS Word, and MS Excel.
