Position Title: Dog Daycare Attendant
Reports To: Bluegrass Dog Training Owner and Daycare Manager/Supervisor
Location: 1777 Alexandria Dr, Lexington, KY 40504
Job Summary:
The Dog Daycare Attendant is responsible for ensuring the safety, health, and happiness of all dogs in the daycare facility. This role involves supervising playgroups, maintaining cleanliness, and providing excellent customer service to pet owners.
Hours:
- 6:15am - 2:45pm Monday - Friday - FT
Key Responsibilities:
Supervision of Dogs:
- Monitor dogs during playtime to ensure safe interactions.
- Identify signs of stress or aggression and intervene as necessary.
- If excess report to trainers
- Ensure all dogs are playing appropriately and are kept in their designated areas.
Daily Care and Maintenance:
- Feed dogs according to owners' instructions and dietary needs.
- Provide fresh water at all times.
- Clean and sanitize play areas, kennels, and equipment regularly.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by picking up waste and disposing of it properly.
Health and Safety:
- Conduct regular health checks on dogs, looking for signs of illness or injury.
- Report any health concerns or behavioral issues to the supervisor immediately.
- Follow all safety protocols and emergency procedures.
Customer Service:
- Greet clients and their pets warmly upon arrival.
- Communicate effectively with pet owners about their dog’s behavior, health, and any incidents during their stay.
- Provide information about services offered and answer any questions from clients.
Behavior Management:
- Use positive reinforcement techniques to encourage good behavior.
- Assist in training activities and behavioral assessments as needed.
- Observe and document any behavioral changes in dogs in incident report and notify the supervisor.
Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate records of each dog's information, including health records and behavior notes.
- Assist in managing bookings and schedules as needed.
Team Collaboration:
- Work collaboratively with other staff members to ensure a cohesive and effective team environment.
- Work together with our partner company Bluegrass Dog Training on play room availability due to training clients
- Participate in training and staff meetings to improve skills and knowledge.
Additional Duties:
- Assist with grooming tasks such as bathing and brushing as required.
- Participate in enrichment activities for dogs to enhance their daycare experience.
- Stay updated on industry best practices and trends in dog care and behavior.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with dogs in a daycare, shelter, vet office or similar environment is preferred.
- Strong understanding of canine behavior and body language.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
- Physical stamina to engage with dogs and maintain cleanliness.
Working Conditions:
- Must be comfortable working indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
- May require lifting, bending, and being on your feet for extended periods.
- Exposure to dogs of various sizes, breeds, and temperaments.
- Must be able to lift 50-75lbs.
