Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our team. DSPs play a vital role in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, helping them live with dignity, safety, and independence. The ideal candidate will be patient, dependable, and passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of others.
Shifts Available
- Weekday Evenings: 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM | 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
- Weekends: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM|8:00 PM – 8:00 AM
Responsibilities
As a Direct Support Professional, you will:
- Personal Care & Daily Living
- Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, dressing, and mobility support.
- Provide assistance with meal preparation and encourage healthy, balanced eating habits.
- Health & Safety
- Monitor individual well-being, including vital signs and overall health, as directed.
- Support with medication administration (training provided, if needed).
- Safely operate mobility equipment such as Hoyer lifts.
- Community & Social Engagement
- Encourage participation in social, recreational, and community activities to promote independence and build social skills.
- Provide companionship and foster meaningful relationships.
- Environment & Documentation
- Maintain a clean, safe, and supportive living environment.
- Accurately document observations, behaviors, and progress while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
- Specialized Support
- Deliver care tailored to individuals with Alzheimer’s, dementia, autism, or other unique needs.
Requirements
Required:
- Compassion, patience, and a genuine desire to help others.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with individuals with disabilities.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including heavy lifting, when assisting with mobility.
- Able to pass national background check and pre-employment screenings
- Valid driver's license
Preferred:
- Experience in group homes, assisted living, nursing homes, or home health care.
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Familiarity with caregiving best practices, patient observation, or long-term care.
- Background in social work, human services, or a related field.
