Description
Head Start Birth-5 has an opening for a full-time Dual Language Learner Specialist position working 35 hours per week. Responsible for providing training, observing children, developing strategies aligned with cross cultural relationships, and serving as a translator and mentor for staff, children, and families. Provide translation services, including, but not limited to marketing, recruitment, enrollment, home visits, parent teacher conferences, and developmental screenings. This position will work with the Head Start Birth-5 Management team to assess efforts on diversity and cross-cultural inclusion programs, identify barriers, and establish best practices. This position will complete duties and responsibilities as they relate to the Head Start Performance Standards, Indiana Day Care Licensing Regulations, CACFP Guidelines, and Head Start Birth-5 Forms and Procedures Manual.
Requirements
This position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent; must obtain within 18 months of hire, at a minimum, a credential or certification in social work, human services, family services, counseling, or related field. Multilingual verbal and written skills in English and Spanish are required.
Must meet Head Start and Indiana Childcare Licensing Regulations, including Head Start Standards of Conduct, federal and state criminal history requirements, sex offender registry checks, drug screen, physical and complete an annual T.B. test.
