T5 Program Summary: The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) awarded the Technical Support Services Contract 5 (T5) to Parsons in April 2023. Parsons is the prime contractor. This $1.8+ billion contract has a 4-year base period with two 3-year options. The statement of work includes a variety of activities that support the FAA’s Capital Investment Plan (CIP) and certain reimbursable programs, the FAA NextGen Program, national security programs and aviation safety. Specifically, work includes site selection and engineering, construction, environmental and fire/life safety, equipment installation and testing, drafting, contract surveillance, and other technical services as required. Work is performed across the nation in each of the FAA’s nine regions as well as the Aeronautical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and the Technical Center in Atlantic City, New Jersey and in several U.S. territories. An average staff of 500 with a peak staff over 650 supports this contract, in addition to those subcontractors who perform construction work.
We need our Electrical Designers at this level to apply standard design principles and theories to complete assignments. In this role you will develop difficult and complex working drawings from equipment specifications, engineering notes, sketches, and/or detailed drawings, ensuring that they meet company and industry standards and codes. Our Electrical designers understand the materials and methods normally used within the assigned discipline.
Responsibilities:
- Utilizes a CAD workstation to prepare engineering drawings consisting of standard arrangements, layouts, flow sheets, assemblies, isometrics, etc., from rough sketches and/or from general engineering and design information according to established standards and procedures.
- Works closely with other Designer and Engineers to ensure a coordinated design.
- Applies standard design principles and theories to complete assignments.
- Utilizes technical manuals to ensure compliance with company policies and applicable standards and codes such as ANSI, PFI, and ASME.
- Ensures compliance with required design safety factors, tolerances, and specifications.
- Compiles data and performs dimensional and routine calculations required for the preparation of drawings.
- Makes required changes, additions, and/or revisions, as directed by immediate supervisor.
- May assist in training lower-level Designer/Drafters in various procedures.
- Checks drawings prepared by lower-level Designer/Drafters for accuracy and adequacy.
- Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
- Must be able to meet customer security requirements. A background check by Federal Authorities will be performed.
Required Skills:
- Associate's or equivalent technical degree or certificate of completion from an accredited designer/drafter course (or equivalent) is preferred
- 10+ years of relevant experience
- Requirements include PC literacy, proficiency in utilizing CAD and other computer software used to complete design assignments.
- AutoCAD 2019 experience required.
- Strong understanding of orthographic (2D) and/or isometric (3D) designs and supplier/manufacturer drawings.
- Knowledge of codes such as ANSI, PFI, and ASME.
