Project Manager / Estimator
We are in search of a Project Manager/Estimator with Business Development skills to produce and assemble bids for projects and then manage those projects to ensure successful implementation of Carey Electric's values and objectives as well as the customers.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
Overview:
The electrical estimator is responsible for the estimating methodology and the use of software and other tools to optimize risks. Supporting ongoing review of projects, analyzing on-going costs and part of the closeout review of all projects.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Estimate commercial/industrial electrical projects within the McHenry, Lake, and Cook County areas.
- Provide accurate, timely and complete estimates and change order quotations.
- Coordinate total estimating effort relevant to particular bid or project.
- Provide complete estimating input on projects with management and estimating team when submitting bids.
- Create and submit RFI's when needed and ensuring open issues and unclear scope items are clarified.
- Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc., to determine the scope of work and required contents of project estimate.
- Prepare estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work using the estimating software.
- Ascertain any risks related to the estimate in order to guarantee that provisions are made for those risks.
- Ensure that estimates are complete, well-organized and ready for review before the given deadline.
- Organize and maintain project files.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- 3+ years’ experience with commercial and industrial electrical estimating required.
- Successful track record estimating and negotiating small to large, simple to complex projects.
- Successful track record managing small to large, simple to complex projects.
- Thorough knowledge of company procedures, estimating techniques and estimating softwares.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, purchase orders, contracts, cost coding systems, etc.
- Knowledge and experience in managing multi-disciplined projects.
- Strong conceptual estimating skills with limited information.
- Understanding plans and specifications.
- Ability to build strong relationships both internally and externally.
