ABOUT THIS POSITION
Over 52 million passengers traveled through Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport in 2024, one of the busiest airports in the country in the nation's 5th largest city. Sky Harbor is the largest of three airports in the Phoenix Airport System (Phoenix Sky Harbor, Deer Valley, and Goodyear airports) which is operated by the City of Phoenix Aviation Department and has an economic impact over $44 billion annually.
The Aviation Department has a vacancy for an Electrical Maintenance Crew Chief position. This role supervises, schedules, assigns, and inspects the work of electricians and other employees who install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures. Responsibilities include writing reports; giving detailed estimates for projects; coordinating new construction; remodeling electrical facilities; and repairing electrical equipment. This position assesses and recommends equipment and monitors and administers a budget. This position carries with it a high degree of responsibility and accountability and will challenge individuals to develop or enhance their supervisory/people skills. It also requires infrastructure problem solving and remodel, and a high set of electrical safety standards.
The candidate will supervise lead electricians and electricians, while providing leadership support throughout the Greater Phoenix metropolitan area. Strict control of personnel and process records is a must. People and organizational skills are paramount and are the defining elements of the position.
Job duties include:
- Manage service and supply contracts.
- Work fitness is a must.
- Airfield lighting maintenance and repair.
- Provide budget information on a timely basis.
- Develop and nurture pride of ownership within the work groups.
- Direct and mentor new employees and aid with electrical staff.
- Become an integral part of management/administrative team.
- Provide oversight on large generator driven redundant power systems.
- Effectively manage State/Federal compliance systems within the span of control.
- Direct and support Facilities Operation Divisions activities and work order systems.
- Monitor and enhance the best electrical safety program within the City of Phoenix.
- Manage and oversee the operation and maintenance of medium voltage distribution systems.
SALARY
Pay Range: $36.84 to $54.42 per hour
Hiring Range: $36.84 to $47.01 per hour

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Three years of experience as a skilled electrician.
- And completion of an electrical apprenticeship program.
- Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

Working conditions:
- Must be able to work at heights greater than ten feet.
- Working irregular hours, second and/or third shifts, weekends, holidays, and evenings may be required.
- Working outside in a variety of environmental extremes such as heat, cold, rain, air pollution, and dust may be required.
- Must be able to work in small, cramped areas such as ceiling crawl spaces, and equipment enclosures.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:
- Minimum of 5 years of commercial / industrial electrical experience, preferred.
- Industrial / commercial electrical construction and maintenance practices experience.
- Electrical maintenance crew supervisory experience.
- Experience with automated lighting control systems.
- Experience with medium voltage distribution systems.
- Experience entering data, spread sheets, documentation, and reports.
- Experience with electrical NFPA-70E safety program and practices.
- Experience troubleshooting electrical equipment and all applicable safety requirements.
- Experience with national electrical code, policies, and procedures specific to the electrical trade.
- Experience with electrical projects estimating and communication with customers and contractors.
- Experience in reading, understanding, and interpreting blueprints, one lines, and schematics drawings.
- Experience working with project managers, contractors on operational policies, procedures, and preventative maintenance.
- Experience using software applications such as work order systems, SharePoint, SAP, Microsoft Office programs as well as smart devices.
- Training and certifications as it relates to the job is highly desired.
