Job Title: Elementary Food Service
Location: The Academy of Arts and Knowledge Elementary School
Position Type: Part-Time, 10am-1:00pm, Monday to Friday
Start Date: August 11th, 2025
Position Summary:
The Lunch Service Assistant supports the Food Services Manager in preparing, serving, and cleaning up daily lunch service for approximately 300 elementary students. This individual plays a key role in ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming cafeteria environment while maintaining compliance with food safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and portioning of food items for lunch service
- Set up and maintain serving lines and food stations
- Serve meals to students in a timely and friendly manner
- Support dishwashing, cleaning, and sanitizing of food prep areas, utensils, and equipment
- Monitor student safety and behavior in the lunchline
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and serving area
- Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines
- Assist with inventory checks and receiving food deliveries as needed
- Communicate effectively with staff, students, and administration
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Food Services Manager
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous experience in food service or school lunch program is a plus
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and lift up to 30 pounds
- Basic knowledge of food handling and sanitation practices
- Friendly, positive attitude and a commitment to student well-being
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently as well as part of a team
