We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Emergency Medicine Technician (EMT) to join our Emergency Department team. In this role, you will work under the supervision of Physicians and Registered Nurses to perform direct patient care duties and assist with various medical procedures. As a vital member of our emergency care team, you'll help ensure efficient patient flow while providing excellent care to patients of all ages.
Responsibilities:- Obtain/record vital signs including temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, and pulse oximetry
- Perform venipunctures, EKGs, blood glucose monitoring, and various point-of-care testing
- Assist with orthopedic splinting, wound cleaning, and preparation
- Assist physicians during various procedures/emergencies (trauma, cardiac, respiratory, etc.)
- Collect and accurately label blood specimens
- Perform 1:1 psychiatric monitoring when needed
- Apply cardiac monitors and report observations to nursing staff
- Assist with establishing IV catheters under nursing supervision
- Transport patients safely within the facility and between facilities
- Prepare equipment and treatment areas for procedures
- Maintain clean patient care areas and properly stock supplies
- Provide compassionate care with strong customer service focus
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Current New York State EMT Certification
- BCLS Certification required
- ACLS Certification preferred (PALS if caring for children)
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in direct patient care (5 years preferred)
- Strong technical skills for patient care procedures
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English
