A highly regarded, not-for-profit hospital in southern North Carolina is expanding and seeking a skilled Emergency Room Nurse Manager to support the continued growth and success of its Emergency Department. This leadership opportunity comes at an exciting time, as the facility prepares to open a brand-new Clinical Decision Unit this fall.
About the Emergency Department:
- Annual ER Visits: 50,128
- ER Beds: 34
- FTEs Overseen: 70.47
- Departmental Structure: The Nurse Manager will serve as the key leader between the ER Director and ER Coordinator, focusing on operations, staff engagement, and quality outcomes.
Position Overview:
This is a full-time, exempt leadership role that requires strong clinical and operational expertise. While the core hours are Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM, successful candidates will be highly visible and engaged across all shifts, with flexibility to round on early morning, evening, and weekend shifts when needed. This role is vital to ensuring optimal patient care and nursing operations in a 24/7 fast-paced emergency care environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide operational oversight of daily ED activities and staffing
- Lead and mentor a large team of clinical professionals
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary leadership on quality improvement initiatives
- Ensure regulatory compliance and drive performance metrics
- Contribute to the success of the newly established Clinical Decision Unit
Qualifications:
- Active North Carolina RN license or multistate compact license
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing required; Master’s degree preferred
- 3-5 years of emergency nursing experience
- 2-3 years of progressive leadership experience strongly preferred
