Responsible for analysis, control, and operational support for real time through and long-term Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) energy markets.

DUTIES


  • Learn from exposure to a broad range of energy market operations, portfolio and project management, regulatory and compliance activities, and technical operations to perform and complete tasks to support EMO.
  • Collaborate with energy management internal and external stakeholders to assist in delivering reliable wholesale energy supplies to Denton Municipal Electric (DME) at competitive prices, including analysis and operational support of short through long-term resources covering wholesale markets, power generation and load.
  • Use tools including, but not limited to, network, communication, and market to complete analyses that support wholesale energy market operations, resource controls, and assist with facilitating market communications via EMO systems.
  • Perform basic analyses on future impacts due to proposed changes to the energy portfolio and wholesale market design; assist with solution implementation to mitigate or comply with identified impacts.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of DME’s wholesale energy operating strategies inclusive of EMO Quality Scheduling Entity (QSE) activities.
  • Stay up to date on technical skills and trainings; conduct research and provide technical expertise.
  • Participate in activities with financial impacts on internal and external stakeholders including, but not limited to, DME EMO operational strategies, approaches, and participate in energy portfolio changes and wholesale ERCOT market design and development processes.
  • Assist with compiling data and documentation, and inputting information into presentations for internal and external stakeholders, as needed.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS


  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, or related field
OR
  • Any combination of related education, experience, certifications, and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • Must have and maintain a valid Class “C” Driver’s License and valid state required minimum automobile liability insurance prior to employment (must obtain Texas Class “C” driver’s license and state required minimum automobile liability insurance within 90 days of hire per state law)
  • Must pass a drug test, driver’s license check, criminal history background check, employment history verification, and social security number verification.

  • Ensure equipment is in safe operating condition; perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, as appropriate and/or notify leadership immediately of needed repairs.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, including computer and peripherals; wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing; occasional stooping, squatting, kneeling, bending, pushing/pulling, and twisting.
  • Motion: Frequent repetitive hand motions, including keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching.
  • Lifting: Lifting no more than 20 pounds and carrying up to 10 pounds.
  • Environment: Works in an office setting office and environmentally controlled areas; occasionally requires irregular and/or prolonged hours.
  • Travel: Travels to City of Denton buildings and professional meetings as required.
  • Attendance: Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position. Mental Demands: Maintains emotional control under stress; works with frequent interruptions.
