Join our Toyota Material Handling North America team as an Energy Solutions Electrical Designer!
The Role:
We're seeking a passionate and dedicated Electrical Designer who brings energy, creativity, and sound decision-making skills to the table. In this role, you'll contribute to the development of moderately complex electronic designs within the energy solutions space. Your focus will include the design and specification of electrical components, harnesses, and electronic assemblies, along with hands-on involvement in prototype builds and troubleshooting. We value innovative and creative ideas - yes, even during meetings (where snacks are always welcome). If you enjoy tackling challenges with positivity and a bit of humor, you'll feel right at home here.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Collaborate with electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, software developers, test engineers, and other stakeholders to design electrical systems that meet application requirements.
- Generate and maintain documentation for harnesses and components.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical system issues using laboratory equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and current probes.
- Evaluate design concepts for optimal performance, considering factors like maintenance accessibility, noise minimization, cable clearance, ease of operation, and adherence to safety and environmental standards.
- Perform engineering analysis and design of various electronic components and systems using traditional techniques such as simulations, design analysis, and performance verification.
- Partner with mechanical counterparts for comprehensive system design and integration.
- Create design layouts of parts and moderately complex assemblies, including functional units and mechanisms with precise motion or timing relationships.
- Prepare new or revised layouts to produce finished detailed drawings.
- Assist regularly with prototype builds, troubleshooting, and documentation of technical or design issues.
- Learn and develop CAD-based wire routing.
- Lead and participate in design and documentation reviews to ensure quality and maintain cross-functional communication.
- Diagnose design problems and develop countermeasure options as needed.
What We're Looking For:
- 5+ years of related experience.
- Strong circuit analysis skills.
- Proficiency with electrical test equipment.
- Understanding of wire harness manufacturing processes.
- Hands-on aptitude with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate in cross-cultural teams.
- Adaptability and flexibility in a dynamic and evolving work environment.
- Enthusiastic approach to challenges with attention to detail, critical thinking, and a positive mindset.
What Sets You Apart:
- Associate's degree in engineering or a related field.
- Comprehensive knowledge of wire harness design, materials, and manufacturing.
- Experience with:
- CREO Schematic and Wiring Systems.
- Altium Schematic Capture and PCB Design.
- 3D modeling software (CREO, SolidWorks, or similar).
- Background in electronic hardware design and troubleshooting.
- Experience working on industrial or automotive products.
Where and When You'll Work:
- This is an in-person role located at our Rochester, New York office—ideal for those who thrive in a hands-on, team-oriented environment.
What Your Total Compensation & Benefits Package will look like:
Salary - $62,400 – 79,000 per year. Compensation depends on the selected candidate's education and experience.
Relocation: This role may be eligible for relocation assistance.
World Class Benefits:
