This position will assist in developing, deploying, leading, and continuously improving Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) programs to ensure a World-Class EHS culture across all teams and locations. The EH&S Coordinator will assist in leading the organization’s efforts on compliance, risk reduction, and identification and implementation of improvements related to EH&S. This role will require an influential leader who can capture the hearts and minds of the organization.
Responsibilities Include:
- Assists in building and nurturing a World-Class EHS culture across all teams and locations
- Ensures adherence to health and safety guidelines and exceeds all legal obligations
- Keeps accurate documentation and performs analysis as needed
- Develops detailed reports and reporting systems
- Interacts with and influences leadership and operations personnel on safety and compliance issues
- Identifies opportunities for improvement and develops new effective procedures
- Coordinates audits and investigations with EHS Manager to detect existing or potential health and safety hazards, identify root causes, determine corrective action or preventative measures to prevent reoccurrence
- Coordinates workers’ compensation claim activities with third party administrators and company attorney
- Maintains and submits required environmental records
- Develops, implements, and manages initiatives within the safety department
- Provides leadership to all members of the organization
- Maintains knowledge of current federal, state and local regulations including but not limited to OSHA, EPA, and current WC laws by state
- Instructs and advises leaders on safety codes that apply to their organizations and ensures necessary safety procedures are established
- Leads development of training materials and conducts training sessions along with EHS Manager for team members via guides, e-learning, webinars, and site meetings
- Coordinates with EHS Manager to determine appropriate safety equipment and safe work practices to be employed on specific jobs
- Conducts accident scene investigations with EHS Manager, maintains communications with claims adjusters, and participates in accident reviews
- Participates in various workers compensation and other legal processes as needed
- Acts as liaison between company and government agencies
- Prepares and delivers reports and updates to management
- Tracks accidents and claim trends and strategizes actions to continuously improve
- Deploys training materials to operations team while tracking EH&S data/metrics
- Conducts EH&S observations while coaching and training team on said observations
- Other duties as business needs dictate
Requirements:
- 2-5 years Safety Management & Environmental Management experience in a manufacturing environment
- Additional experience in a construction environment a plus
- Experience supervising, coaching, and training personnel
- Bachelor’s Degree in safety or related field preferred
- Demonstrated experience as a leader of positive change
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, claims handling, accident investigation, and insurance programs and policies
- Must be comfortable working in a high urgency, driven environment
- Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work with both internal and external contacts of varying levels of expertise and authority
- Intermediate computer skills and proficient in MS Office, Outlook, Word, Excel
- Strong organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills
- Willingness and flexibility to adapt to changing business needs and deadlines
- Ability to work independently to meet business goals while also being a strong member of a team.
