GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Compliance Specialist is responsible for coordinating, developing, and delivering training programs; reviewing organization-wide policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements; and analyzing, interpreting, and communicating updates from local and federal regulatory agencies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Review organizational policies and procedures to ensure compliance with contractual obligations, as well as federal and state laws, guidelines, and regulations.
  • Monitor the inventory of policies and procedures to ensure timely review, approval, and distribution by the appropriate personnel, in accordance with organizational policy. Provide status reports to senior management as needed.
  • Coordinate, develop, and deliver training sessions for employees, delegated entities, and/or external stakeholders on regulatory and compliance-related topics. Maintain documentation of all training activities.
  • Monitor the distribution and completion of training materials to ensure timely compliance by designated personnel, aligned with organizational policy. Report completion status to senior management.
  • Review and interpret new and existing legislation or regulatory guidance issued by federal and state agencies. Disseminate relevant information to impacted operational areas, delegated entities, and/or external stakeholders.
  • Ensure training content is well-structured, accurate, and tailored to the appropriate audience. Identify and address general and specific training and educational needs.
  • Support management in reviewing the content of educational and training materials to ensure they are current, relevant, and effective.
  • Assist employees, delegated entities, and/or external stakeholders with accessing and managing training, education, and compliance-related applications.
  • Participate in meetings with operational areas to support the development and review of policies and procedures. Document discussions, decisions, and action items.
  • Attend meetings with delegated entities and external stakeholders to discuss regulatory and compliance matters. Record meeting outcomes and any required follow-up actions.
  • Provide guidance and support to employees, delegated entities, and/or external stakeholders on regulatory and compliance topics, including responding to inquiries and requests for clarification.
  • Must comply fully and consistently with all company policies and procedures, with local and federal laws as well as with the regulations applicable to our Industry, to maintain appropriate business and employment practices.
  • May carry out other duties and responsibilities as assigned, according to the requirements of education and experience contained in this document.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree preferably in Business Administration, Health Education, or related areas. At least two (2) years performing similar functions in areas related to organizational development, implementation, and execution and/or compliance, preferably in the medical insurance industry.

Other: Availability to work on weekends and extended hours, according to operational needs.
