Job Title: Estimator
Department: 10 – Heavy Construction
Reports to: Group Manager/ Sr. Estimator
JOB SUMMARY:
The Estimator is responsible for estimating projects which include all conceptual, negotiated and
competitive bid estimates, and working with Project Management, all support personnel, and
client/vendor relations to achieve precise and accurate estimates. The Estimator reports to the
Senior Estimator or Group Manager.
PRIMARY DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
o Creates and populates estimate in HCSS HeavyBid software
o Assembles Bid Schedule with sufficient level of detail and logic using Primavera P6
o Performs material take offs to verify estimated billing and cost tracking quantities using Excel,
Bluebeam Revu, and CAD software
o Utilizes historical cost and production data to improve estimate accuracy
o Assembles bid packages and contacts vendors and subcontractors to solicit pricing quotes and
proposals
- Monitors bid procurement websites and portals to assist in identifying bid
- Reads and understands construction drawings and specifications in order to provide accurate,
- Attends pre-bid meetings when necessary
- Coordinates pre-bid discussions and bid kickoff meetings with other operating groups on
- Performs site visits to projects sites to assess and confirm constructability approach
- Engages with and solicits feedback from Group Team members on constructability aspects of
- Develops comprehensive project estimate that includes, but are not limited to, the

- Coordinates post bid documents submission to owners in accordance with contract
- Collaborates with safety, quality, engineering, and legals team to review contract terms,
- Assists project managers with formatting and importing project budgets into CMiC
- Collaborates with the project management team to ensure alignment between estimates
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited University in Construction Management, Engineering, or
- Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and estimating software
training on specific programs will be provided.
- Solid skills in the areas of math, budgeting, financial analysis, as well as excellent teamwork,
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- The physical demands of this position must be met by an employee to successfully perform the
period of time and frequently stand and walk. The employee frequently is required to use hands to
finger, handle, or feel: and reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The employee will
occasionally lift and/or move office equipment up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required
by this job include viewing computer monitors. Most work is performed in an office environment
during normal business hours but occasional project
site visits will be necessary.
