The Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards (FSMTB) is seeking an enthusiastic and meticulous Examination Coordinator to join our Examinations team. This entry-level role is ideal for someone who is eager to grow professionally while contributing to an organization that plays a critical role in the regulation of the massage therapy profession.
The FSMTB develops and maintains the national Massage & Bodywork Licensing Examination (MBLEx) and related exam support services. In this role, you will work closely with the Director of Examinations, volunteer committees, and vendors to ensure the examination process runs smoothly and with integrity.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist with all aspects of the examination process
- Coordinate confidential submission and review of examination questions
- Support volunteer committees involved in exam creation and maintenance
- Prepare meeting materials and coordinate communications for exam development sessions
- Review, edit, and proofread examination items for clarity and accuracy
- Maintain the FSMTB reference library
- Provide administrative and project support to the Examinations Department
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including schools, vendors, and regulatory boards
- Promote FSMTB’s mission through high-quality written and verbal communications
- Ensure strict confidentiality and uphold examination security at all times
- Collaborate with the FSMTB team on projects that advance the organization’s goals
What We’re Looking For
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills—both written and verbal
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office and comfort with digital tools
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading abilities
- Professional demeanor with excellent organizational skills
- Flexibility and the ability to work under deadlines with a positive attitude
- Self-starter who is open to direction and feedback
- Ability to manage confidential information with discretion
- Background in working with volunteers is a plus
- Team-oriented with a collaborative mindset
Education & Experience
- College degree or relevant coursework in English, Communications, or related field
- Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) is a plus
- Experience supporting projects, volunteers, or committees is a plus
- Nonprofit or regulatory environment experience is helpful
- Ability to travel occasionally within the U.S. and Territories
