Cayuga County Convention & Visitors Bureau, the official tourism promotion agency for Cayuga County, NY, is seeking a visionary and strategic leader to serve as our next Executive Director. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of tourism in one of the most scenic and culturally rich regions of New York State.
The Executive Director will lead the implementation of our 2026–2030 Strategic Plan, manage organizational operations, and drive innovative marketing efforts that reflect our core values:
· Sustainability inclusivity, and community pride.
· This role requires strong leadership experience in tourism, economic development, or destination marketing, as well as expertise in stakeholder engagement and public relations.
· A deep understanding of DEIA practices and the ability to foster collaborative partnerships is essential.
The ideal candidate will bring bold ideas, operational excellence, and a passion for showcasing Cayuga County’s local businesses, heritage, and natural beauty.
· We’re looking for someone who can increase visitor engagement and spending, elevate the region’s profile on state and national levels, and build strong community relationships that position tourism as a force for economic resilience and shared prosperity.
· A Bachelor’s degree in tourism, marketing, public administration, business, or a related field is strongly preferred.
· A Master’s degree in a relevant discipline is a plus.
· Candidates must demonstrate progressive executive leadership experience in tourism, destination marketing, economic development, or a comparable sector.
· A minimum of 7–10 years of senior-level leadership experience may be considered in lieu of a degree, particularly if paired with a proven track record in strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and organizational management.
