Job Summary:
We are seeking a seasoned and safety-conscious Excavator Operator to join our team at a busy stone quarry located in Chester, VT. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience operating heavy equipment—especially excavators—in a quarry, mining, or construction environment. This position plays a critical role in the extraction and handling of raw stone materials, ensuring production runs efficiently and safely.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate excavators and other heavy equipment to extract and load stone materials safely and efficiently
- Perform pre- and post-operation equipment checks and report any maintenance issues
- Work closely with the quarry supervisor and team to meet daily production targets
- Safely remove overburden, shape quarry faces, and manage stockpiles
- Load haul trucks with precision and care to minimize wear and spillage
- Follow all site safety protocols and MSHA regulations
- Assist in site cleanup and equipment maintenance as needed
- Document daily activity, inspections, and materials moved
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience operating excavators in a quarry or similar environment
- Proficiency with large excavators (20+ ton class) and knowledge of different attachments.
- Strong understanding of excavation techniques, slopes, grades, and safety measures
- Valid driver’s license; CDL a plus
- Ability to work in all weather conditions and in a physically demanding environment
- Team-oriented with good communication skills
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Schedule:
- Monday through Friday
- 8:00AM – 4:30 PM (hours may vary based on weather and project needs)
