Microwave Radio Technician
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Microwave Radio Technician to join our telecommunications team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise with Aviat, Nokia, and Ceragon microwave radio systems, as well as proficiency in DC power supply systems and fused distribution panels. This role involves bench testing radios prior to deployment and conducting performance testing post-installation to ensure optimal system functionality.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain microwave radio systems, including Aviat, Nokia, and Ceragon equipment.
- Perform bench testing of microwave radios to verify functionality and compliance with specifications before deployment.
- Conduct performance testing and troubleshooting of installed radio systems to ensure optimal operation and signal quality.
- Install and maintain DC power supply systems, including fused distribution panels, ensuring safe and reliable power delivery.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to microwave radio systems and associated equipment.
- Collaborate with engineering and project teams to plan and execute deployments, upgrades, and maintenance activities.
- Document all testing, installation, and maintenance activities, ensuring accurate records and compliance with industry standards.
- Adhere to safety protocols and best practices during all fieldwork and testing procedures.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Microwave Radio Technician or similar role in telecommunications.
- Proven expertise with Aviat, Nokia, and Ceragon microwave radio systems.
- Strong knowledge of DC power supply systems and fused distribution panels.
- Experience in bench testing microwave radios prior to deployment and performance testing post-installation.
- Familiarity with telecommunications standards, protocols, and testing equipment (e.g., spectrum analyzers, power meters).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in various environments, including remote field locations.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as needed.
Preferred Skills
- Certification in microwave radio systems or related telecommunications equipment.
- Experience with network monitoring tools and software.
- Knowledge of RF principles and signal propagation.
- Familiarity with industry safety standards (e.g., OSHA, FCC regulations).
