POSITION FUNCTION
The Facilities and Equipment Coordinator is responsible for keeping the Co-op’s major equipment well maintained and in good working order. They are also in charge of scheduling, or performing preventative maintenance, and coordinating with contractors performing major equipment and fixture upgrades. This position works frequently with staff in all other departments and with outside contractors
QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least three years of project management experience
- General familiarity with the different components of grocery or other relevant retail operations
- A valid driver’s license strongly preferred
- Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, refrigeration, and mechanical systems
- Ability to safely operate power tools, including drills, saws, sanders, and drivers
- Willingness to provide basic custodial services as needed
- Ability to act as a leader in managing projects, contractors, or responding to emergencies
- Ability to effectively negotiate contracts and scheduling with contractors
- Demonstrated ability to exercise excellent judgment independently
- Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and organizational skills
- Attention to detail, good time management and the ability to shift attention easily between tasks
- Ability to work with little or no supervision, communicate effectively using all forms of communication and work under deadlines
- Able to work a flexible schedule to support business needs, including evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays. Dependable attendance is required.
- Ability to provide friendly, professional external and internal customer service in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to calmly and professionally handle multiple demands, prioritize effectively, and problem solve within established guidelines

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Operations:
- Performs and coordinates the maintenance of Sno Isle Food Co-op facilities, grounds, and equipment in compliance with all applicable codes and ordinances.
- Plans and conducts preventative maintenance programs for a variety of systems, including building, plumbing, electrical, equipment, HVAC’s, refrigeration, compressors, exhaust, and lighting.
- Responds promptly to facility-related issues.
- Oversees equipment functions and repairs.
- Negotiates and manages third-party contractor support with the approval of the GM.
- Schedules and coordinates the activities of all partner contractors. Inspects construction and installation progress when applicable.
- Develops and implements, in partnership with Managers and GM approved short and long-range department goals and plans.
- In coordination with Managers provides input and recommendations on the Co-op’s capital needs.
- Secures estimates and cost quotes in alignment with established budget.
- Coordinates ordering of equipment and store maintenance supplies
- Effectively arrange for repairs/service as needed; communicate relevant information to appropriate staff; act as liaison with service companies
- Contract with and supervise all outside contractors; ensure quality control, professionalism, and minimal operational interference; ensure facilities projects are completed on time and at or below budget
- Maintain ongoing cleaning program for building and grounds; creation of daily/weekly cleaning plan for all areas of the facilities and oversight/delegation of the execution of these cleaning plans
- Develop and maintain an on-call system for maintenance emergencies 24/7
- Assist departments in achieving cleanliness goals
- At the discretion of the GM, oversee Capital Projects
- Other projects as assigned by the GM
Records Management:
- Develops monitors and maintains accurate written procedures for the department including preventative maintenance schedules and tasks lists.
- Creates and maintains equipment tracking databases.
- Responds, updates and maintains project request tickets.
Safety:
- Enforces sound safety and housekeeping practices. Keeps in compliance with all safety regulations (OSHA and WISHA) as well as store policies and procedures.
- Ensure the safety of all work areas within the Co-op’s leased space for both employees and customers.
- Manages supplies and contracts to ensure store safety.
- Maintain facility and equipment in safe working order; promote safe use of Co-op facility and equipment.
- Maintain list of emergency contact numbers.
- Maintain emergency supplies such as flashlights.
Leadership:
- Serves as a member of the Manager group and acts as a model to all employees by knowing and following Co-op policies and supporting the mission and strategic goals of the Co-op.
- Models supportive and participatory leadership qualities. Promotes team building, excellent customer service and goal focus.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
