Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Dental Equipment Maintenance Technician to ensure optimal performance, safety, and compliance of all dental equipment and systems within our clinic. The role involves routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and timely repairs of dental facility equipment including vacuum systems, compressors, dental chairs, X-ray machines, sterilizers, and more. You will visit the dental clinics at least once each 3 months.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine inspections using facility checklists to assess the functionality and safety of dental and laboratory equipment.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair a wide range of dental equipment issues, including: Suction and evacuation systems (vacuum lines, motors, filters) Air compressors (air leaks, pressure regulation, overheating), Dental chairs and delivery units (hydraulics, wiring, tubing) Handpieces and curing lights (bearings, turbines, LED lights) Autoclaves and sterilizers (gaskets, sensors, control boards) Radiographic equipment (intraoral, panoramic, CBCT units) Lasers, ultrasonic scalers, intraoral cameras, and lab machines
- Ensure timely and accurate documentation of all maintenance checks, repair activities, and equipment statuses.
- Respond to urgent service calls and coordinate with third-party vendors or technicians when necessary.
- Maintain equipment manuals, spare parts inventory, and maintenance logs.
- Provide recommendations for equipment upgrades or replacements when applicable.
- Follow infection control protocols and safety regulations when handling equipment.
- Assist in installation, calibration, and validation of new equipment.
- Support regulatory compliance with dental health and safety standards.
Qualifications:
- Technical diploma or certification in Biomedical Equipment Technology, Electronics, or a related field preferred.
- Proven experience maintaining and repairing dental or medical equipment.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, pneumatic controls, and mechanical troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with OSHA, CDC, and dental infection control standards.
- Excellent problem-solving and time management skills.
- Ability to read technical manuals and interpret schematics.
- Strong documentation and communication skills.
