Uplift Michigan Online School is looking to add a Family and Community Liaison!
The Family and Community Liaison will be responsible for identifying needs and providing families with support and community resources to best meet students needs. The FCL is also responsible for working with students to increase engagement and academic completion
Essential Functions
- Increase student engagement within the school community.
- Travel to students’ homes, when necessary/appropriate to conduct welfare checks and re-engage the family in programming. Home visits are to be conducted IN-PERSON and require the candidate to live in Southeast Michigan. This is a non-negotiable for this position.
- Communicate with families about the students’ attendance and any attendance concerns.
- Process truancy needs.
- Connect with district and community agencies to assist families with resources, food and shelter needs, truancy officers and family courts.
- Complete the functions of the MKV liaison which includes, but is not limited to, weekly outreach to families experiencing housing instability.
- Develop and maintain a list of community resources across the state of Michigan.
- Work with highly disengaged student populations to help them get reengaged.
- Consistently document all interactions and communications with students in all relevant systems.
- Communicate with faculty and other stakeholders about student progress and engagement.
- Be available for work during the hours of 8-5 with some fluctuation based on family needs and in home visit times.
- Utilize learning management and data systems to track student engagement and attendance.
- Perform other duties and tasks as assigned by School Administration.

Work Environment
This job will operate in both a home office setting as well as being out in the community and
visiting students. Will routinely be on the phone communicating, using a laptop or computer
for communication and will need strong speaking and motivational skills. Standard office
equipment may be used as well.

Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree required in either business, communications, education or science. Previous
work experience with students is a plus. Social work background, licensing, and/or experience
preferred.
Schedule
This role requires work between 8am and 4pm, Monday through Friday and additional hours as needed. This is a full-time, salary position that requires 40 hours plus, if necessary to complete required tasks. This is a mostly remote position, but the hours are not flexible. You will be expected to conduct IN-PERSON home visits on a weekly basis.
