Purpose:

Brigid Collins’s mission is to strengthen community health and resilience by providing comprehensive support to children and their families. As a case manager on the Brigid Collins Family Support Team, your role is crucial in providing both emotional and practical support to families who have experienced child abuse or other crimes, families struggling with substance use disorder, homelessness, and more. The purpose of the case manager is to create an environment of trust and stability and support client autonomy. This effort proves vital for families during difficult and often adverse periods in the lives of those we serve. This approach enables families to feel heard and understood, which is crucial when navigating emotional and logistical challenges during times of adversity. As advocates, case managers also play an essential role in supporting children and families in the Children’s Advocacy Center.


Compensation:

  • Salary commensurate with experience. New hires should expect to start at the base of the range, $22.50-$25.50 per hour, DOE.
  • The full classification range is $21 - $28.29 per hour. This represents the potential for growth within the classification.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide ongoing case management, including goal setting, referrals, and progress monitoring.
  • Support families and provide advocacy during forensic interviews at the Whatcom and Skagit County Children’s Advocacy Centers.
  • Conduct comprehensive client assessments to determine needs, barriers, and appropriate interventions.
  • Create a foundation of trust and safety through personalized guidance, empathetic listening, and collaborative problem-solving to strengthen family resilience.
  • Establish and maintain the required caseload with attention to the timely completion of case notes.
  • Develop and monitor the client’s/family’s service plan.
  • Maintain consistent communication with clients through phone calls, in-person meetings, and follow-ups.
  • Maintain documentation and reporting procedures.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled on-call shifts as assigned.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Will be able to work effectively and efficiently in the field with little supervision, with the ability to manage time effectively.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively engage with mothers at high risk of relapse and their families.
  • Ability to engage in conversations involving extremely sensitive and confidential issues.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Willingness to adjust schedule and flex time to meet at times that are convenient for clients’ schedules.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 1 year of relevant professional experience for a Case Manager II or three (3) years of relevant professional experience for a Case Manager III in social or human services-related positions, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English is preferred but not required.
  • Successful completion of required background checks and the ability to work in the United States.
  • Reliable Transportation and a current driver’s license and auto insurance.
